WOOF! (Hi!)

My name is
TOBY and I want to thank all of you who donated last year to Animal Advocates of Colorado. If it
weren't for you, I couldn't have had my first Christmas with my wonderful family!

Last winter a very nice young man found me in a ditch. I was very cold and I couldn't use my back leg and
everything hurt. I didn't want to give up but it was getting dark and I could hear the coyotes and I was hungry.
The nice young man picked me up and took me to the Humane Society to find me a home. They said they
couldn't fix my leg and
would have to euthanize me. I didn't know what that meant but the young man said
no and took me to a place he said he had heard would help dogs like me.

When he took me to Dundee's they looked at my leg and said it was really bad but they thought they could fix
it and find me a new home with financial help from
Animal Advocates and private donors. They gave me a
treat which immediately made the pain go away and they fed me and gave me lots of attention. I curled up
on a very soft bed and went to sleep.

The next day Dr. Mark made me lie real still and took some pictures of my leg. He talked about putting pins
in my leg to make the bones grow back together. The next thing I knew Dr. Mark and Dr. Marty were putting
on funny clothes and then I got real sleepy and started dreaming about chasing rabbits. When I woke up,
they gave me a treat and I would start feeling better.

Every week Dr. Mark would check my leg and finally the cast came off and I had a softer
bandage wrap which was great because I knew I could run and jump.
Except they kept
telling me not to run and jump.
I loved staying at Dundee's because I met lots of nice
people and played with my new best friends, Jr and Streaker and Alban.

Then one day I got to go for a ride and we went to a house where I met two really nice
people. They were so nice and had a warm fire and I just knew this was where I wanted
to live. I was on my best behavior and lay down beside the owner's chair while the
people visited. He reached down and petted my ears and I looked up and gave him my
best grin. When it was time to leave I put my head on my new friend's knee and asked
him if I could stay forever.

Today, life is great. My leg is like new and Dr. Mark took the pins out and every day I get to
walk and run with my mom and dad. When mom and dad can't take me with them I get to
stay with my friends at Dundee's and play with my best friend JR, and all the other dogs
who come to visit.

If it weren't for you I wouldn't be here today and my mom and dad wouldn't be as happy
as they are having me to love them every day. So, if you think your help doesn't matter, I'm
here to tell you it does. Your donation brings love to animals and to the people who love
them. THANK YOU!
